MUMBAI: The entire star cast of "Shajarur Kanta", a Byomkesh Bakshi film which has national award-winning actress Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead, reached Mumbai on Sunday for a special visit.

"'Shajarur Kanta' was a big challenge for me because it is a detective film, plus a love story," Konkona Sen Sharma told IANS.

"Byomkesh Bakshi stories are historic and every Bengali knows them very well, and they have been waiting for screen adaptation. It is a popular short love story, plus Byomkesh Bakshi is the flavour of the season. Our Byomkesh Bakshi is different from others as he is older," she said.

The film, which released on March 20, has garnered praise all over.

Directed by Saibal Mitra and produced by Pradip Churiwal and Saikat Mitra, the film features Konkona Sen Sharma as Deepa Bhatto and Dhritiman Chatterjee as Byomkesh Bakshi.

It also stars Indraneil Sengupta, Kaushik Sen, Dwijen Bandopadhyay and Biswajit Chakraborty.

"Shajarur Kanta" is based on the novel of the same name by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay.
