Actor Mruga Umrania has tips for budding talent

Express News Service

MUMBAI: Mumbai-based actor and model Mruga Umrania says, there is a process that people need to follow to reach the peak in the world of cinema. Mruga also made sure to immerse herself in the process of learning, unlearning, and relearning things to better her craft, be it as a model or actor. This, she believes, landed her with substantial roles in movies like Manto, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Liger starring Vijay Deverakonda, and several music videos, working with small and big production houses.

However, she also wants budding artists to focus on a few qualities to up their game as artists in the entertainment realm. She says that to be a good actor, people need to be good listeners first. Being an active listener helps artists respond effectively to the director’s instructions and also be ready for the co-actor’s cues.

She says, “A way actors can enhance their talent is by developing their creative skills, like expressing themselves through painting, singing, dancing, etc., or any other hobby to explore ways to see the world from different viewpoints. This not just energises an actor before the scene, but also fills them with more confidence to carry on screen. Improving communication skills is yet another way. For this, people can take public speaking opportunities, or even perform theatre plays, to improve their communication and speaking skills.”

Mruga (@mrugaumrania) points out that there are many other things actors can focus on, like learning every day, analysing their performance often, and reading to become better performers.
