Hollywood actress Halle Berry has officially split from her boyfriend of four years, Gabriel Aubry .
Aubry announced the "sad" news in a statement out on an American gossip show on the same evening the 43-year-old Oscar-winning actress was spotted with a new man.
In his statement, model Aubry, 34, said: "[Halle] is, and will forever be, one of the most special and beautiful people that I have ever known, and I'm certain that we will continue to have only love and respect for one another."
It came as the actress was photographed holding hands with an unknown man leaving the Broadway show Fences, starring Denzel Washington.
A report in the Daily Mail said Aubry refused to comment on the “wild inaccuracies” in the reporting of their former relationship, which was rumoured to have quietly ended a few months ago.
The pair have a two-year-old daughter, Nahla, together and intend to share custody. Aubry added: “Her happiness and well-being is the most important thing for both of us.”
Berry was previously married to United States baseball star David Justice for four years in the early 1990s and also to soul singer Eric Benet. The marriage to Benet ended in October 2003, 18 months after she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 'Monster's Ball'.
Berry and Aubry began seeing each other in November 2005 after meeting at a Versace.
