LOS ANGELES: Comedian Rosie O’Donnell's former wife Michelle Rounds committed suicide at the age of 46. Her body was found at her home earlier this week on Monday.

The talk-show host released a statement, saying, “I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy. Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle’s family, her wife and their child,” TMZ.com reported.

Rounds' mother also posted a statement saying, "... If anyone would like to give to the National Suicide Prevention it would also be greatly appreciated. There are so many out there in this world that have demons that they think suicide is the only way out ..."

55-year-old O’Donnell and Rounds were married in June 2012 and later went on to divorce in February 2015 after the ‘View’ host filed for it.

On January 2013, the couple announced that they had adopted a baby girl named Dakota, age four now.

However, the actress has the sole custody of the child after both the exes previously battled for the legal custody of their daughter.
