One of the biggest blockbusters of the year from Mollywood, Oru Vaddakan Selfie (A Northern Selfie) directed by G Prajith has had a great run and set the cash registers ringing. Every other film industry in the country has purchased the rights to make the film in their respective language and in Sandalwood, the news is that S Narayan will helm the project, for which the rights have been bought by his friend Subramanyam.

Confirming the news is the director himself, who said, that he was impressed by the film’s content and decided to make it here. “When I watched Oru Vadakkan Selfie, I didn’t feel like I was watching a film. It felt like real life unfolding before me. The story is universal, so it can be made in any language.” says the director, who plans to go on floors with the film any time in October.

While Oru Vaddakan Selfie had an ensemble cast, Narayan is keen on roping in fresh talent and bring in a local flavour to the universal subject,  “I am looking to cast newcomers as popular faces will not fit into the role. We are looking for artistes from a theatre background and those who are comfortable with acting. The selection process is going on and we will finalise all of them as early as possible,” he says.

Narayan’s last film as a director was Daksha with Duniya Vijay. He took up distribution for Puli in Karnataka, which unfortunately did not do well at the box office.
