While the names of a few actresses were tossed around for Puneeth Rajkumar’s Rajakumara, Hombale Films finally settled on Priya Anand, who will be marking her Sandalwood debut with the film.

“We wanted an actress who would pull off the traditional south Indian look while also playing an NRI. After considering a few possibilities, we thought Priya fit the bill. She will be Puneeth’s newest on-screen partner,” the production house tell us.

Priya Anand, a known face among Tamil and Telugu movie fans, was also seen in Bollywood’s English Vinglish, Fukrey and Rangrezz.

Meanwhile, Prakash Raj has been approached for a role in the film and the makers will confirm the news once the actor signs on the dotted line.

With an ensemble already being finalised, Rajakumara is all set to go on floors by the end of March. The first long schedule will take place in Australia.
