For quite sometime now, Tamannaah has been experimenting with her roles moving beyond glamour, within a commercial framework.
The pretty actor, who’s gearing up for the release of the trilingual horror comedy Devi(l), says it was challenging for her to essay a dual role, especially one that has been shot thrice — simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi — including the dance portions.
“I have been a huge fan of Prabhu Deva, so when Vijay (the director) told me the former is playing the male lead, I was very excited. Of course, I was nervous to perform in front of him, considering how he dances. He helped me throughout the rehearsals and motivated me. He is a flexible teacher, who studies people and teaches them accordingly,” she tells CE.
The team has completed the trilingual in 58 days and Tamannaah says the whole credit goes to Vijay, who planned and executed well.
She adds, “I am playing the role of a simple house wife and an actor. There’s a surprise twist about how I end up being an actor in the movie. It’s not a complete horror film, but elements of the genre have been treated in a different way. I accepted the film because my role isn’t cliched.”
The Kaththi Sandai (2016) star also opines she’s game for meaningful women-centric roles, which aren’t preachy.
The film, being made in Hindi as Tutak Tutak Tutiya and in Telugu as Abhinetri, scheduled for release on October 7, has Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, Nasser, RJ Balaji and Sathish in important toles.
