The makers of the Mammootty-Mohanlal starrer Patriot, written and directed by Mahesh Narayanan, have announced that the film will now hit theatres worldwide on May 1, a week after its previously scheduled date of April 23. The revised release plan comes amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, which are understood to have impacted the film’s rollout across GCC markets, prompting the makers to opt for a slight postponement.

Billed as a spy thriller, Patriot features Fahadh Faasil as the antagonist, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Nayanthara, Kunchacko Boban, Darshana Rajendran, Rajeev Menon, Revathy and Grace Antony, among others. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Manush Nandan and music by Sushin Shyam, with editing jointly handled by Mahesh and Rahul Radhakrishnan. It is produced by Anto Joseph and KG Anil Kumar, with CR Salim and Subhash Manuel serving as co-producers.

Patriot will now clash at the box office with Joju George's Varavu, directed by veteran filmmaker Shaji Kailas, which is scheduled to release on the same date.
