MUMBAI: Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited directorial venture “Shivaay” goes on the floor this week in Mussoorie, the hill station near Dehra Dun. After almost a year of long planning, the film will go on floors Nov. 7.

The first schedule kicks off in Landour, a small cantonment town contiguous with Mussoorie.  The unit will then fly to Hyderabad and finally to Bulgaria, where major portions will be filmed.

“Shivaay” was to roll out last year in Calgary, Canada, but the unit returned without shooting a single frame, as the snowfall was not enough. In February, Devgn, also the producer of the film, fixed on Bulgaria, but, by that time, he had to shoot for “Drishyam.”

Devgn has just finished campaigning for the BJP in Bihar and is now free from all other work to concentrate on his second directorial assignment after “U Me Aur Hum” (2008).

The film introduces Dilip Kumar’s grand-niece Sayesha Saigal, while Devgn plays the title role. Mithoon scores the music, and the movie is scheduled to release on Diwali 2016, making it Devgn’s first Diwali release after “Golmaal Returns” (2008), “All the Best” (2009), “Golmaal 3” (2010) and “Son of Sardaar” (2012).
