Rubbishing rumours that were circulating on the Internet that actress Vidya Balan had opted out of director Kamal’s latest Aami, a source close to Vidya affirmed that the actress was very much involved with the project.

“I think the rumours started spreading because the movie was supposed to go  on floors this January. However, the production is being delayed due to the ongoing strike in Kerala. Vidya is very interested in the project,” the source said and added that they were unsure when the shooting would begin. Meanwhile, when City Express spoke to director Kamal about the rumours, he opted to remain silent.
“I can’t say anything about the rumours. I will speak about it when it is the right time,” he said. Vidya Balan will play the late writer Kamala Das in Aami, a biopic.

It is said that Kamal had approached Vidya Balan in 2014 itself to essay Kamala Das.
Though a little hesitant to work in a South Indian project, she was eager to play the role.
Actor Murali Gopi will play the husband while Prithviraj and Anoop Menon will be seen playing important characters.  In an interview last year, Kamal had said that he was sure Vidya Balan was the perfect choice for the movie.

Oscar winning sound designer Resul Pookkuty will also be part of the movie which is being produced by P T Rafel. This is  Kamal’s second biopic outing, the first a commerical hit  Celluloid on the life of J C Daniel.
