Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda, which released in 2014, became a big hit and earned Bobby Simha a National Award.

Even Superstar Rajinikanth later expressed dissapointment at never getting to play a character like Assault Sethu (Bobby Simha’s character).

Now, it’s learnt that the film, which blends the gangster drama genre with black comedy, will be remade in Hindi by director Nishikanth Kamath under Ajay Devgn’s production banner. Farhan Akhtar is all set to reprise Siddharth’s role of a struggling filmmaker and Sanjay Dutt will play the dreaded gangster. While the original was based in Madurai, the adaptation will reporteldy be set in Maharashtra.

The shooting for the remake is expected to commence in the first week of December. The casting for the film is underway.
