The shooting of ‘Harischandra Ghat’

People in Srirampuram, Bangalore know just one Harishchandra Ghat– the graveyard. There is now a Kannada film with the same name. The film ‘Harishchandra Ghat’ is followed by the caption, ‘Last Stop.’

Producer, actor and director BP Srinivas’ yet unreleased film ‘Mussanjeya Gelathi’ (releasing on August 28), in which he plays a college professor who falls in love with his student (played by his real life daughter, Shalini), has already been prey to a number of controversies. The shooting of ‘Harischandra Ghat’, his next film kicked off on August 15, his birthday at a graveyard in Cox Town, Bangalore.

The music of the film is by Jaipal. The lyrics, dialogues and screenplay are by Shivasamaya. Ravi Belegere will be seen in an important role in Harishchandra Ghat.

The film will have BP Srinivas playing a millionaire and his real life daughter, Shalini will be seen playing his reel life daughter too. Most of the shooting will be done in the graveyard because it is about a gravedigger, played by Arjun (of Ganga Cauvery fame) who falls in love with a rich girl (Shalini). The problems that arise in their love due to difference in social status, is what the film is about. Srinivas, who was accompanied by his film team, cut a cake in media presence at the Green House Restaurant. The film requires a bony looking black dog. The search for a trained black dog is still on.

The research for the film has been done well. Arjun has talked to people living in the graveyard to do justice to his role. According to Shalini, her role is very intense even though she plays a quiet and simple girl.
