BANGALORE: Meghana, a non-resident Indian, is a familiar face for those who have watched the Ramesh Aravind starrer Venkata In Sankata. Meghana was one of the three heroines in that laugh riot.

She also played the lead role in the suspense thriller Shishira and was cast opposite Auditya in the action-oriented flick Deadly-2. Deadly-2 was directed by Ravi Srivatsa and Meghna’s performance got rave reviews from critics. She also acted in the Kannada-English film Bangaloored,  opposite Kalakaar fame Harish Raj. The film was directed by Swaroop Kanchi.

Now, Meghana is playing the lead role in Sweet Poison, a movie that will be released in five different languages — Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. Spencer Mathew has handled the megaphone for this film.

The movie Sweet Poison is about a girl who comes to a city to pursue higher education. “The movie narrates the difficulties faced by the village girl after she lands in the city. It will also explains how girls, especially those with the village background, find it tough to adapt themselves with the new lifestyle,” says Meghana.

Girish Karnad is in the role of a lecturer, who not only gives valuable tips to the girl, but also helps her to overcome the problems. “It was a great opportunity to act with a senior artiste like  Girish Karnad. Karnad sir was very helpful during the shooting. I learnt many good things from him,” explains Meghana.

Meghana, who is brought up in Los Angels, nourished the ambition of becoming an actress since her childhood.

“My parents also encouraged me in reaching out to my dream. I met Ramesh Aravind while I was undergoing training at Abhinaya Taranga in Bangalore. After watching my performance, Ramesh sir offered me the role in Venkata In Sankata. The training at Abhinaya Taranga has helped me a lot,” narrates Meghana.

What is Meghana’s ultimate goal?

“My ambition is to become a good artiste and act in all types of movies — off-beat as well as commercial,” she said.
