BANGALORE: Naveen Krishna is brimming with confidence to prove his mettle in the new film Shankara with a tag line —Nanage Naane Devaru. Its shooting has been planned in a slum in Kengeri for 20 days. As per the script of Shankara, Naveen Krishna is expected to remain in an open drain for a few minutes. “I do not know if it will be bad for my health, but I am prepared to remain in the dirty water for a few hours,” says Naveen Krishna.
Krishna made his debut as a hero with the film Dhimaaku, which was directed by Magesh and produced by Srinivasa Murthy. Murthy is the father of Krishna. The controversial artiste Flora Saini alias Mayuri was the heroine in that film. However, it did not fare well at the box office.
Krishna tried his luck by playing the second hero role in Sri Harikathe in which Murali, Pooja Gandhi and Radhika Gandhi were heroines. It also failed to make a positive impact at the box office.
Recently, Krishna had the opportunity to act in films like 5 Idiots, Vinayaka Gelayara Balaga, Naariya Seere Kadha and Mathondu Madhuvena. He acted as one of the heroes in all these multi-star films.
Coming to Shankara, it is about a slum-dweller who has to face many problems in life. “I have been visiting the slum in Kengeri for the last two months. I am interacting with slum-dwellers to know their lifestyle. My objective is to give my hundred percent during the shooting of Shankara. I have learnt many things about the lifestyle of slum-dwellers. After visiting the slum for more than two months, I will have no problems to remain in an open drain for a few hours,” explains Krishna.
Recently, Krishna enacted a scene from Shankara by carrying a dead body on his shoulder to a press meet at Green House. It took more than an hour to clean the paint off his body.
Malathesh has been assigned to handle the megaphone for this film. The hunt is on for a suitable young and energetic girl to play the heroine.
