BANGALORE: Directors trying to prove their acting skills on-screen is a new trend in Kannada film industry. Here is one such example. Nagashekhar, who had earlier directed Sanju Weds Geeta is showing his acting skills in Gowri Putra, directed by Manjunath Maskalmatti. The film, in terms of its storyline, song picturisation and other aspects of cinematography has roused curiosity among audience. Nikita Tukral, Rupika, Smitha and Akshay are the others who have played a lead role. Speaking about the film, Manjunath Maskalmatti said, “All the four songs in the film are shot in various locations like Batkala, Honnavar and Hiriyur. Special effects in terms of graphics are added in the song sequences like those in the Tamil and Telugu films.”

The music for the film is directed by Milan Dharmasen. Nagashekar, who is also directing another film called Mynaa has tried hard to prove his mettle as an actor and a singer. Director Manjunath Maskalmatti claims that this film has a blend of comedy, romance and action sequences. When asked about his work experiences with Nagashekar, he said, “He has inspired me and encouraged me to take a step forward to go ahead with shooting the film. He guided me constantly in terms of direction.”
