Actor Ganesh and director MD Sridhar are gearing up to work together for the fourth time for Kanwarlal, a remake of the superhit Hindi film Dabangg that starred Salman Khan and was produced by his brother Arbaaz Khan. The two are collaborating after their earlier outings—Chelata, Krishna and Buguri - Preethiya Sutha.

The film produced by Dinesh Gandhi is all set to be launched on the Sankranthi festival. Sridhar has accepted the script and is looking forward to working with Ganesh. He says, “More than our combination, we are comfortable with each other and have a good time working together. We have similar tastes as far as the films are concerned. We understand each other and it creates a good atmosphere. Right now I am busy with the post production of Buguri. Though the muhurath is taking place in January, I will start the project only after Buguri releases, which will most probably be in March,” he says.

Dabangg was remade in Telugu and Tamil as Gabbar Singh starring Pawan Kalyan and Osthi starring Simbu respectively. When asked how Sridhar planned to fit Ganesh in Salman Khan’s rather large  shoes for Kanwarlal, he says, “I have already shown Ganesh as lover boy, a comedian and other varied characters. Dabangg too has a lot of comedy and with Ganesh there is no doubting his brilliant comic timing. So he is a perfect fit for the character. However this is the first time, Ganesh will be seen playing a cop and it should work quite well. Thankfully, he has maintained a lean look, which will also go well with his character in the film.”

Arbaaz Khan who produced the Hindi film, will play an important role in the film. “I am yet to meet Arbaaz as we are still finalising the heroine as well as the rest of the cast,” he says.

Kanwarlal also marks the return of Telugu music director Devi Sriprasad to the Kannada industry. He had previously composed music for the hit film Sangama.

Sridhar is upbeat about Buguri Sridhar is upbeat about his film Buguri, which is Ganesh’s 25th film under the SNG banner. “Apart from directing, I have produced the film along with my friend Gopalkrishna. Ganesh worked really hard for this film by learning horse riding and skating for his role. In fact, we have fight sequences with him on horseback and while he is skating. There was an equal effort that was put in by Erica Fernandes, Richa Panai and the rest of the team. The film is now at the editing stage and we will start the dubbing from this Thursday,” he says.

The audio launch will be in February. The music for the film is composed by Mickey J Meyer. “Buguri will be second film for Micky in Kannada. He had previously composed music for Jolly Days,” says Sridhar.
