Hamsalekha Among Six Music Directors For Kali

Prem will start recording the song today

A Sharadhaa

Prem’s Kali starring Shivarajkumar and Sudeep, will go into production in Bengaluru starting today.

The director had recently visited Mantralaya to seek blessings of God before he starts with his new film. Prem shared the development with City Express while revealing that he will be roping in six music directors for Kali and the first song recording will start from today with music director, Hamsalekha.

“It is a dream fulfilled to have Hamsalekha on board. Today, what ever little music I have learnt or I know about, it is only listening to songs composed by Hamsalekha. Previous to Kali, I have requested him many a time, but could not succeed, only because he felt that he could not make tunes for today’s generations. I finally could convince him after meeting him 15 times,” says Prem.

“He will be doing the opening song for me and that’s when the story of Kali will start. Though all music directors are my friends, nobody can compose songs like he does. Since Kali is history, he perfectly fits the bill,” he added.

Interestingly, the song by Hamsalekha for Kali will be mixed in London as it needs symphony orchestra consisting of 300 members, which will be first of its kind for a Kannada cinema.

“Hamsalekha and I will be going to London once he is through with the notes. My intention is to maintain international tempo. We will go with a different mix depending on the music directors’ choice,” he says.

This apart, Prem has a few Kannada music directors in mind including Sadhu Kokila, Gurukiran, V Harikrishna, Arjun Janya, Anoop Seelin.

Apparently, he is also in touch with music directors Anirudh and SS Thaman.

Meanwhile Prem is waiting for the dummy film, which he says he will get by end of this month. “For the last four months, the sequences of the film have been made in Chennai, Mumbai and Australia. They will present the whole picture to me in cartoon characters,  This will help me organise better for the actual shoot,” he says.
