A Sharadhaa

Though Suraj Gowda's debut was with Kaviraj's Maduveya Mamatheya Kareyole, it is film Kahi that actually got him to the silver screen. The actor is glad that the film is finally seeing the light of the day and releasing this week. Suraj tells City Express Kahi will always be a special movie for him.

"This film was the reason why I shifted from Mysuru to Bengaluru and the reason why I turned from modelling to acting. A film that gave  wings to my dreams and let me try on acting in a full-fledged
manner," says Suraj.

The actor, who is now mostly taking up commercial subjects, had the opportunity to start with an offbeat film and a subject that is close to reality. Defining Kahi, Suraj says "For many, the word Kahi means bitter, but in the context of the film, it is not considered as a taste, but is seen as an emotion."

"The subject deals with lives of four youngsters living in a metro city and runs around my character, who is a psychopath, an alcoholic and into drugs. It explores the behaviour of a person, who is easily influenced by the activities around. He has a split personality, which is explained well in the film," he adds.
According to the actor, it was always a challenge to play an extreme character, which he got an opportunity to do in Kahi.

"This is a film that definitely connects to today's youth. Thankfully it is coming at a time when people are appreciating a different kind of  cinema," he says.

Kahi directed by Aravind Shastry also has him as the editor of the film. Apart from Suraj Gowda, the film
features Krishi Thapanda, Harisharva, Ramesh Bhat, Shrinivas Meshtru, Kishori Ballal,
Mahesh Bung, Matangi Prasan and Aravind Iyer.
