Here comes an Apothecary

After the much acclaimed movie Melvilasom, director Madhav Ramadasan is coming up with his new venture. Titled Apothecary, the movie will have Suresh Gopi, Jayasurya and Asif Ali playing the lead roles. Unlike Melvilasom, which also won critical acclaim and awards, Apothecary will be an out-and-out entertainer with a socially-relevant message, according to the makers.

Apothecary is the local term used for doctor in the rural areas. The movie will be an entertainer in every means. The shooting will start on February 2014 and we are planning to release it by July 2014,” says Ramadasan.

The story is penned by the director himself while he, along with Hemanth Kumar, is writing the screenplay. Hari Nair is the cameraman of the movie which is produced by Baby Mathew and George Mathew under the banner of Arambankudiyil Cinemas.

Ramadasan’s maiden movie Melvilasom also had Suresh Gopi playing a pivotal role with Tamil actor Parthiban. An adaptation of Soorya Krishna Moorthy’s stage play of the same name, which itself was based on the Hindi play Court Martial by Swadesh Deepak. Melvilasom won acclaims for its unique narration and socially-relevant theme. It was also screened in various International Festivals.
