KOCHI: In a move which is likely to avert a box office clash with Mohanlal's Puli Murugan- the biggest ever Malayalam production- and coming as a sad news for Mammooty fans, his upcoming movie Thoppil Joppan has been temporarily stayed from releasing.

This follows an order by Ernakulam District Court on Wednesday after a petition filed by a film producer, Shibu Thekkumpuram. The film directed by Johny Antony was slated to release on October 7 along with Mohanlal's Puli Murugan.

As per the petition filed in court, Abdul Nazar, the producer of the movie had sold the copyright of the movie to Shibu for Rs 25 lakhs. However, he claims there was an infringement of copyright which led him to approach the court.

With it's teasers creating quite a stir and the movie being 'mega-star' Mammootty's next big release, expectations are sky high. The clash of the Big Ms of Mollywood has added to the expectations.

Set in the Kottayam-Idukki belt, Thoppil Joppan follows its hero, an alcoholic chronic bachelor clad in spotless juba-mundu and toying with Ray-Ban shades on similar lines as earlier Mammootty hits Kottayam Kunjachan and Sangham.
