His first movie Seventh Day was dark and broody, but director Shyamdhar says his next Mammootty-starrer Pullikkaran Stara is a colourful movie, aimed at the family audience.“This is a feel-good film.
Mammootty plays a trainer, who trains teachers. But, he is not your stereotypical teacher who preaches. He brings forth ideas and lessons by the way of little incidents. His character has been fleshed out well and I am sure families will love it,” says the director.
But, what about the funny title of the movie?
“Yes, it gives out the flavour of the movie.
There is a lot of situational comedy in Pullikkaran Stara. Dileesh Pothan, Innocent and Hareesh Perumanna have handled it quite well," he adds.However, Mammootty’s character is not a funny man as such,” says the director.
As is evident in the teaser, Mammootty’s character has some flaws in his personal life and the film touches upon that too. “It is about how he deals with life,” he says. Asha Sarath plays his wife in the movie.
The director adds that there is no love track in the movie. “It is a feel-good movie for families. It rides high on humour,” Shyamdhar adds.
The movie, which will hit the screens on September 1, also has Deepthi Sati doing a prominent character.
