Singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi ties the knot

Playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi married Anoop, a mimicry artist hailing from Pala, at Vaikom Mahadevar temple, near here, on Monday.

KOTTAYAM: Playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi married Anoop, a mimicry artist hailing from Pala, at Vaikom Mahadevar temple, near here, on Monday.Anoop tied the ‘thali’ (wedding locket) at the temple and the couple entered their names at the wedding register at Devaswom office. A reception was followed at Athurasrama hall, near Vijayalakshmi’s house, at Vaikom.

Vijayalakshmi is the daughter of V Muraleedharan and Vimala of Usha Nivas, Udayanapuram, near Vaikom, and Anoop is the son of Narayanan Nair and Laila Kumari of Kochozhukayil house, Puliyannoor, near Pala.

Several prominent persons including Yesudas, wife Prabha Yesudas, son Vijay Yesudas, music directors M Jayachandran and Ouseppachan and CPI central committee member Pannian Raveendran attended the marriage reception and blessed the couple.

Vijayalakshmi, who commenced her career as a vocalist in 1987 with the blessing of legendary singer Yesudas, entered into film industry by singing a song in Kamal’s ‘Celluloid’ in 2013.Later, she worked in several south Indian films and won many awards.
