‘Mylari’ (Kannada, Masala Entertainer, 2010)

Director: R Chandru

Cast: Shivarajkumar, Sadhaa, Sanjana, Rangaayan Raghu, Guru Prasad

‘Mylari' is director R Chandru’s third movie after 'Taj Mahal' and 'Prem Kahani'. 'Taj Mahal' was a huge success but his second movie 'Prem Kahani' with same hero (Ajay) failed at the box office.

Now, Chandru is back with 'Mylari' that has sentiment, romance and action. The movie has all the elements that are required to keep the audience glued to their seats. While directing 'Mylari', Chandru has stuck to the same formula which he applied to his first movie. Only if he would have ensured a little extra pace in screenplay during the pre-intermission session, 'Mylari' might

have been a good movie.

As far as the performance of Shivarajkumar is concerned, he is at his best in action and dance sequences. His energy and enthusiasm in dance scenes deserve appreciation.

Young Sanjana fails to maintain the same pace at which Shivarajkumar shakes his legs. Sadhaa, who made her debut with Jayam and earned name and fame for her performance in the Tamil film 'Anniyan', looks malnourished.

Rangaayana Raghu, Guru Prasad, Suchendra Prasad and Suresh Heblikar have provided good support.

Music director Gurukiran has done a neat job. Among the songs, 'Mylapurada Mylari' is full of rhythm.

The movie is about Mylari (Shivarajkumar), who is not interested in studies since childhood and invites wrath of his father. He happens to be friendly with Anitha (Sadhaa), the daughter of village leader. His friendship graduates to love but he could not express it to her.

Meanwhile, Anitha’s parents arrange her betrothal. His friends compel Mylari to meet Anitha and express his feelings. He obliges his friends but Anitha’s father comes to know about it and as the result,

Mylari’s father disowns him.

Mylari comes to Bangalore for earning livelihood where his friend Guru (Guru Prasad), a sub-editor of a tabloid, helps him to get a job. Working with the tabloid, Mylari exposes a politician (Suchendra Prasad). The politician kills Guru and his family members. To take revenge, Mylari kills the politician and his henchmen. The court sentences him to death.

Meanwhile, the SP (Ravi Kale) of the area wants to know about Mylari. The movie is a worth watch for those who want to see the dancing skills of hattrick hero Shivarajkumar.
