CHENNAI: Actor Nayanthara is in a big soup. The Tamil Film Producers Council and the South Indian Film Artists Association have jointly decided to ban the Kollywood heartthrob from appearing in Tamil movies. The Council is also planning to take the threat one step forward and seek the support of directors from other languages on the issue.
The announcement came in the wake of Nayanthara’s refusal to return the advance monies that Tirupati Productions paid her for their film 'Payya'.
Tirupathi productions reportedly agreed to pay her Rs 1 crore for the project and gave her an advance. The producers reportedly sent their managers to ask her to take a pay cut on the agreed amount by Rs 25 lakh. Nayanthara said: “They assumed I will agree to their ‘orders’ because I had no other Tamil movie in hand.”
The producers say Nayanthara has refused to return the advance though the deal was that the money had to be returned if the shooting did not begin.
“Though adequate time was provided to Nayanthara, she refused to adhere to the demand of the council,” they said.
