Film: Sivamani (Kannada) Cast: Srimurali, Sharmila Mandre, Shobaraj, Ramesh Bhat, Vinaya Prakash, Avinash Director: S K Amarnath If the number of action scenes, laced with blood and violence, are any indication, looks like debutante director S K Amarnath, had his eyes set on the masses alone. And the nauseating and unconvincing screen play convinces the viewer that editor Suresh Urs was over confident with his editing skills and has shown a complete disrespect to the audience’s time and money.
The director has depicted the police department as a spent force. There is one particular scene where a mistress of an underworld don not only threatens but also uses uncivilised language against a senior police officer. It is not clear what made the director include such an unconvincing scene. The other incongruous character is Shobaraj.
He does not know how to operate a cell phone but is an expert in killing people and maintaining a number of mistresses. He lives in a palatial bungalow but is not aware of the concept of a tie. His comments on a tuition master are in bad taste. There is another character, who writes alphabets using a knife like how a student uses a ruler while taking a geometry test.
Srimurali is good in the action scenes but the same can not be said of his dancing. Sharmila Mandre has to improve a lot. Ramesh Bhat, Vinaya Prakash and Avinash have provided good support.
The story is about Siva (Srimurali) who gets separated from his parents and gets shelter from Subbanna (Avinash) during his childhood. Subbanna nurses an animosity with Nakarar Narayana (Shobaraj). He comes to Bangalore and gets Siva admitted to a college where Shruthi (Sharmila Mandre) also studies. Circumstances compel Siva to antagonise Giri, the brother- in-law of Narayana. The more Siva tries to control himself the more Giri troubles him.
Meanwhile, Narayan’s henchman tries to rape a widow. This enrages Siva, prompting him to teach Narayana a lesson. And of course, Narayana does not keep quiet. He organises several goons to attack Siva. Finally, how Siva teaches Narayana a lesson is the climax.
