HIS role as the village schoolteacher 'Chokkalingam vathiyar' in Company Production’s Pasanga has won him accolades. For actor Jayaprakash, its another feather in his cinematic cap. Being a part of Kollywood but in the capacity of producer earlier, Jayaprakash is right now enjoying this stint on the other side of the camera.

His GJ Cinema has produced several films like 'Chellamae', 'April Maadam', 'Thavasi' and many more. But he never thought of acting until director Cheran egged him on. So he played a villainous don in Cheran’s 'Mayakannnadi'. Then 'Laadam' followed where he grabbed attention as the regal looking villainous character. “But 'Pasanga' is the first time I play a good man and that too a school teacher,” laughs Jayaprakash.

Talking about 'Pasanga', a landmark film which features several children, Jayaprakash says, “ Producer Sasikumar put together a beautifully blended unit. Director  Pandiaraj too handled so many children with complete ease. He put up with all their pranks and used to hang out with the kids and their families. Soon I too got used to it all and began to enjoy it too.”

Jayaprakash’s association with producer M Sasikumar continues beyond 'Pasanga'. “Both of us are acting in Samudrakanni’s 'Nadodigal'. I play a rich man with shades of grey. It’s a role of great depth.” For those who liked the freshness he brings to the screen with his unconventional looks, you can also catch Jayaprakash in 'Khaki', a Sarath Kumar film releasing soon.
