Singam 2 to get ‘two’ funny

The Suriya-starrer will mark the coming together of two of Kollywood’s most wanted comedians, Santhanam and Vivek.

If those who saw Oru Kal Oru Kannadi complained that they couldn’t laugh too long for fear of missing the next joke by Santhanam, it is going to get funnier in Singam 2. The Suriya-starrer will mark the coming together of two of our most reputed comedians, Santhanam and Vivek.  While the original version Singam (2010) had only the latter trying to tickle our funny bone as Yettu Erimalai, director Hari has roped in Santhanam too in the sequel, to add to the humour quotient.

With his latest Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, Santhanam has clearly made it to the A-list among comedians. Vivek, who has been in the industry for over 25 years now, has become choosy about his roles recently and has been attempting to do different characters.

While the number of scenes that the duo will share in Singam 2 is yet to be known, it should be noted that this is not the first time they have been brought together on screen. Director A L Vijay’s first movie Kireedom, with Ajith in the lead, featured both of them.

Vivek, it seems, is open to work with other comedians, and will soon be seen sharing screen space with Karunaas. This will be in director Shakthi Chidambaram’s movie Machan. Shoot for Singam 2 will commence soon after Suriya is done with his current flick Maatraan.
