CHENNAI: Rajini fans, rejoice! The Superstar is all set to romance the camera in his forthcoming flick Kochadaiyaan from March 19 in London, while shooting for the 3-D period flick will commence on March 12, in England.
Kochadaiyaan marks the directorial debut of Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya R Ashwin, and will be filmed using motion capture technology.
The date has been finalised after three months of intense pre-production work. The film crew, which comprises an all-star cast of Rajinikanth, Sarath Kumar, Nasser, Jackie Shroff, Shobana, Rukmani and Adhi, will fly to England on March 10 to kick-start the process. The filmmakers have planned to shoot the first schedule of the period flick in England till April 5.
Being the first Indian movie to be shot with motion capture technology, professionals from Centroid, a world renowned company in this area, will be employed.
Also, the film is expected to be shot at Pinewood Studios, according to official sources.
Kochadaiyaan’s shooting will begin with Deepika Padukone’s portions, expected to last four days, after which the other actors will play their respective parts.
Rajinikanth, however, is expected to begin shoot only on March 19. Pinewood Studios, situated in Buckinghamshire, has hitherto been the venue where several Bond flicks - The World Is Not Enough (1999), Die Another Day (2002), Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008) have been canned.
Besides these, the Harry Potter series and several other popular Hollywood films have also been shot there.
Kochadaiyaan is believed to have the Superstar play the role of a ruler, and was originally slated for an August 2012 release. The film is being produced jointly by Eros International and Media One Global Entertainment.
The actor had reportedly undergone a make-up test on January 28 for the film, after which two official looks that he will be sporting in the film, were released earlier this month. The film has the Superstar sporting an impressive eight-pack abs and a long mane. Using advanced technology, efforts are being made to bring backtechnologically- actor Nagesh on the screen to play an important role in the film.
Official sources said this was only at the discussion stage and no decisions were made yet.
It may be noted that the Superstar is returning to acting nearly a year after he began the period film Rana, the muhurrat of which was held in end-April. Shortly after, he was hospitalised.
Rana is now said to be Rajini’s next film after Kochadaiyaan.
