The movie Vachathi, which is said to have been based on the sensational Vachathi case, the verdict of which was delivered after 19 years, has already got the backing of the Directors’ Union. Director Ameer, secretary of the union, while speaking at the audio launch function of the movie, said that the Directors’ Union would extend full support to the movie, if it was a genuine attempt. “I regret not having thought of making a movie about the incident. It might be because I got to know about it only through newspapers. But we congratulate director Ravi Thambi for his attempt and members of the Directors’ Union such as directors SP Jananathan, Samudrakani and SS Stanley are here to show our support to the movie,” he said. Earlier, Dillibabu, the MLA of Aarur taluk (within the limits of which Vachathi village lies), narrated the events that had occurred there. He concluded with  how DSP S Jaganathan had been instrumental in helping people there get justice. Jaganathan, who was present at the event, was felicitated by the Directors’ Union. The cast and crew of the movie were also present.
