She debuted in a Kannada film when she was in class one. Today, she is three-films-old in Tamil. Aarushi, the Bangalore-based Kannada beauty, who also has two Telugu films in her kitty, is looking forward to a bright future in Kollywood. In town for the audio launch of her Velmurugan Borewells, she opens up to CE about working in Ganja Karuppu’s debut production and her record of nearly 3,000 ads.
Ask her why she did only one Kannada film, EnthigeHelthini as a child artiste, she laughs and says, “My grandpa wanted me to concentrate on studies!” But looks like she was destined for showbiz. She was just 15 when someone offered her her first ad. “It may be tough to believe, but since then, in the last five years, I’ve done nearly three thousand ads in several languages,” says the 20-year- old actor.
Azhagan Azhaghi, opposite Jack, was her debut as actor in Tamil, where she played a simple village girl. In Adhithalam, she acts opposite Angadi Theru Mahesh as a construction labourer. The film is yet to release, but the talented actor seems to have caught the attention of the industry. Comedian-turned-producer Ganja Karuppu zeroed in on Aarushi for Velmurugan Borewells. Co-incidentally, Mahesh is the hero in this movie as well. Speaking about the film, Aarushi says, “On the first day I was nervous. But Ganja sir was most friendly and as a producer, he always made sure about our comfort in remote locations.”
About playing a small town girl in the movie, she says,“Ganja sir bought his own borewell equipment. Since the area is very dry, he wanted to donate the borewells we dug during the shoot, to the local villagers. Only after this film I came to know how tough it is to drill a borewell!” Ask her about Mahesh, and she says,“He may be shy in public. But on the sets, once he got over his initial shyness, he made the shoot most enjoyable with his pranks and jokes!” So, does she dream of going glam in her next film? “I’m doing trendy roles in Telugu. I actually like playing a simple village girl, since not everyone can carry it off credibly. I can play a modern girl anytime, since that’s what I am in real life,” she concludes.
