Vishnupriyan dons 'Surya'

From Our Online Archives

Actor Vishnupriyan, who made a promising debut with Mye last year, is getting ready for the release of his second film in Tamil titled Arya Surya. While Mye was a realistic portrayal of local politics, the actor’s latest will be a comic caper directed by Ramanarayanan.

While Power Star Srinivasan plays Aryananda (Arya) in the film, Vishnupriyan is called Suryananda (Surya).

“I play an aspiring musician, while Power Star plays an aspiring actor. Coming from a rural background, both of us become friends in Chennai. The film is about how our lives get transformed after an incident,” says Vishnupriyan.

Neither the story nor the roles make fun of actors Arya and Suriya, he adds.

Another addition is veteran actor T Rajender, who would appear in silver screen after a long time in one of the songs in the movie. Composer-cum-singer Gangai Amaren too plays a key role in the film.

Vishnupriyan feels Mye would have reached more audiences had it released at an appropriate time, but hopes Arya Surya will make up for it.

The actor, who was busy with Telugu and Malayalam projects, has now gotten back to Tamil.
