An assistant director’s next stage in career would normally be direction.
Thus, it comes as a surprise that A M Sampath Kumar, who has worked with A R Murugadoss in Dheena and Ghajini, has turned producer. What’s more surprising is that he would be taking up production for another assistant director Anbu G, who has also assisted Murugadoss in his films previously.
Sampath seems to have been impressed by Anbu’s script so much that he had even put off his own directorial debut and decided to produce Anbu’s film under his new banner, Ramana Arts.
The film, titled Iruvar Ondraanaal, is said to be a love story and newcomers — P R Prabhu, Malini and Dishitha — play the lead roles. The actors had been trained before the actual shooting and the film is currently under production.
