All eyes are on the sequel to Superstar Rajinikanth’s Enthiran (2010), which has been titled 2.0. The film, which went on the floors recently, will officially be the most expensive film to have ever been made in the history of Indian cinema.
More importantly, the makers will also be looking at the possibility of taking the film to those markets that have traditionally been ignored like Japan, Korea and China apart from the regular areas where Tamil films are marketed around the globe.
Talking to City Express, Lyca’s Creative Head Raju Mahalingam said, “Enthiran 2.0, which is to be made on a budget of Rs 350 crore, will be India’s most expensive film. When such a film is being made, we will have to explore all markets available across the globe.”
The film, which has Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson playing the lead, also features Akshay Kumar in it. A R Rahman is to score the music while Nirav Shah will be the cameraman. The film will see ace dialogue writer Jayamohan (Tamil) paring up with Shankar for the first time.
Editing is to be handled by Antony while Rasool Pookutty will take care of the sound. Top technicians from all over the globe have been roped into work in this movie which is shot in 3D. Legacy Effects from USA, one of the world’s leading animatronics company which worked on movies like Jurassic Park (1993), Iron Man (2008) and Avengers (2012), have been signed for this movie. The team will also include Transformers (2007) fame action director Kenny Bates. The film’s VFX is to be handled by Life of Pi (2012) fame John Huges and Walt from Taufilms.
Sources say that the team originally planned for a grand launch. However, due to the recent floods the film makers decided to start the shoot in a simple manner.
“The producers of the film, Lyca, recently met officials of the State administration and contributed a sum or Rs 5 crore to the TN Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” says a source.
