Celebrities Galore At Eighth Annual Edison Awards

DHANUSH BAGGED THE BEST ACTOR AWARD for his performance in Velai Illa Pattadhaari (VIP) and Anirudh got the Best Music Director award for Kathi at the eighth annual Edison Awards on Sunday.

The star-studded event was held at Lady Andal School. The event saw celebrities from Tamil and Malayalam film industry.

VIP director Velraj won the Best Debut Director Award. Anirudh thanked everyone for making a sort of reunion for VIP team at the event.

The other winners included Chandran  for Best Debut Actor in Prabhu Solomon’s Kayal, Catherina Tresa for the Best Female debut actor in Madras and Attakathi Ranjith for Best Director for Madras.

At the event, Parthiepan, who won the Best Screenplay Award for his comeback film Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam, thanked everyone who voted him and said, “I am sure that the people’s perception of cinema has changed and it goes very well with the way they have embraced this film.”

Hip Hop Aadhi was named the ‘The Rising Star of 2014 Male’ at the event, which also saw ‘Gaana King’ Deva performing the song Open The Tasmac after winning the award for ‘Best Song 2014’. While Vinod won the Best Story Award for Sathuranga Vettai,  Vedhika won the honour of ‘Extraordinary Performance (Female)’.

Selvakumar, CEO, My TamilMovie.com, gave a welcome speech and honoured Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia.
