Veteran Tamil actor Shanmuga Sundaram passes away

Shanmugasundaram made his acting debut in Sivaji Ganesan's 1963 classic Ratha Thilagam and has acted in many movies till date, most of them as a naive villager.

Veteran actor Shanmuga Sundaram, who has appeared in many Tamil movies and television serials, passed away this morning due to prolonged illness.

Shanmuga Sundaram made his acting debut in Sivaji Ganesan's 1963 classic Ratha Thilagam and has acted in many movies till date, most of them as a naive villager. The actor gave us some memorable peformances in movies like Karagattakaran, Kizhakku Vaasal, Chennai 28, Goa amongst others. The last movie he appeared before his demise was STR-starrer Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan.

Celebrities upon hearing about Shanmuga Sundaram's death took to twitter to pay their condolences.

Director Venkat Prabhu tweeted that his favorite cult actor was no more. Shanmuga Sundaram's 'Bowling-ah Fielding-ah' dialogue in Venkat Prabhu debut movie Chennai 28 is quite popular amongst the youngsters in the state.

Actor Nithin Sathya, who had also acted in Chennai 28, in his tweet said that as long as cricket is there Shanmuga Sundaram will be remembered.

Actor Sibi Sathyaraj tweeted that Tamil cinema has lost a great actor.
