Jyam Ravi’s Miruthan may have been a box-office dud but it impressed movie buffs and critics for introducing the zombie genre to Kollywood. Despite its box-office result, Ravi and director Shakti Soundar Rajan are gearing up for Miruthan 2, but it will be turned into a superhero franchise.

“Miruthan couldn’t cater to all sections of the audience, especially children, and that didn’t work in our favour. Hence, we are planning to make Miruthan 2 as a superhero franchise so that even kids can watch the film. We will begin the project after we complete Tik Tik Tik,” Ravi told CE.

Having wrapped up Vanamagan, Ravi has teamed up with him for Tik Tik Tik, which is a space thriller. “It’s a very ambitious project. We’ve built four space sets in EVP World. As a subject, it will largely appeal to kids.”

The project also marks the acting debut of Ravi’s son. “Even though he seems interested in acting and enjoys being on sets, this will be a one-off film. He’s too young to divert his attention from studies.”

Later in the year, Ravi will begin work on Sundar C’s magnum opus Sanghamitra, which also stars Arya and Shruti Haasan. “

Sundar and I have been planning to work together for a long time. It’s going to be an exciting project but one that will involve a lot of hard work. I’ve shed weight for Vanamagan to look lean. This project will require me to beef up and also get trained in horse riding and sword fighting.”
