Director Pandiraj who gave us the hit Pasanga (2009), is lauching his former assistant Vallikanth as a director with the GV Prakash-starrer Semma. “Almost every assistant of mine is a filmmaker today.

From Bruce Lee’s (2015) director Prashanth to Enkitta Mothathe’s director Ramu Chellappa.

It feels proud. I am aware of the difficulties that an aspiring director faces. I wanted to help them,” smiles Pandiraj. Speaking about Semma, he says the film is set in Tiruchy.

“It is based on a true story that happened to Vallikanth’s friend and I am penning the dialogues.

A full-length comedy, we’ve narrated funny incidents that happen during a wedding ceremony,” he shares.

While newbie Arthana plays the heroine, Pandiraj adds he’s introducing a villain (Jana) to Tamil cinema. Yogi Babu, Mansoor Ali Khan and Kovai Sarala form the supporting cast.

“We’ve completed the shooting and only two songs are left. GV Prakash has scored the background score.

Songs are fantastic,” he says. Semma is co-produced by Linga Bhairavi Creations.
