Even before the shooting of the Sivakarthikeyan starrer Velaikkaran has been completed, its Chennai city theatrical rights have been sold to SPI Cinemas for an undisclosed amount. 24 AM Studios who is bankrolling the project took to Twitter to confirm the news.

A major chunk of the shooting has been completed and the team is gearing up for the film to hit the screens on December 22 to cash in on the Christmas weekend.

The first track, Karuthavanlaam Galeejaam, has turned out to be a chartbuster with people sharing videos on social media of themselves dancing to the peppy tune.

Directed by Mohan Raja, Velaikkaran also stars Nayanthara, Sneha, Prakash Raj and Fahadh Faasil, who’s debuting in Tamil with this film.
