Director Keera, known for films like Merlin and Pachai Engira Kaathu, is currently shooting for his next film, Para. The film, which follows characters over a period of twelve hours (from midnight to noon of December 6) in a politically sensitive environment, boasts of a large ensemble cast that features Samuthrakani, Chandini Tamilarasan, Munishkanth, Shaju Mon, and Venba.

Speaking about the project, Keera says, “The film is about the travails of a heterogeneous bunch of people — an eloped pair, a platform dweller, an elderly couple, a bar dancer, a politician, a policeman, and a lawyer — who are united by chance.” The director goes on to assure that each character’s conflict will be unique. “I have taken inspiration from the people we come across in our my day-to-day lives. The film will talk about quite a few relevant political issues.”

The director pin-points Samudhrakani’s role to be the backbone of the film. “The actor plays a conscientious lawyer who loses his only child in his endeavour to represent the downtrodden. I am confident that the movie will incite the right kind of dialogue in the audience.” Para, which has been extensively shot in Nagerkoil, and parts of North Chennai, is currently in its final leg of shoot. The makers are apparently looking at a late-August release date.
