CHENNAI: Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has come out in support of the #Metoo campaign that has seen women from various sectors call out those who sexually harassed them.

The 28-year-old composer, who shot to fame with his debut song 'Why this Kolaveri Di', said many women have filed cases.

"It is a welcome move that women are opening up on this. Many of them have filed cases, if the charges are proven then we would come to know about the reality," he said.

Popular singer Chinmayi Sripaada recently levelled allegations of sexual harassment against lyricist Vairamuthu. Vairamuthu, however, has refuted the allegations.

Last week, the Madras Music Academy dropped seven Carnatic musicians from its list of performers for the Margazhi music festival, an event held every December, following allegations of sexual harassment against them.

The Indian version of the movement in entertainment, media and film industry started after actress Tanushree Dutta last month levelled sexual harassment charges against veteran actor Nana Patekar.
