The selection process of Dasari Narayana Rao's 149th film Young India is almost done. Recently, Dasari issued an advertisement in the newspaper evoked tremendous response and many aspirants sent their applications.

Altogether, 22,000 applications were received and after scrutiny, 640 people were selected. Among them, 60 were shortlisted as comedians, character artistes. For the rest of the characters like hero, heroines, supporting artistes, 29 were selected out of which 20 were boys and nine were girls.

All these candidates were given training and sent to Ramoji Film City for screen tests. The final list of youngsters will be selected and announced in a few days. Six songs were recorded, script work is done and shooting is expected to begin shortly.

Detailing the progress producer Ramakrishna Prasad of Sowbhagya Media said those who wouldn’t suit the project would be featured in their next ventures.

“Script work for the film has been completed and six songs of the film have been recorded under the supervision of music director MM Keeravani. Soon the film will go on the sets,’’ the producer explained.
