With hits like 'Gayam', 'Anthahpuram', 'Maavi Chiguru' and off-beat movies like 'Anukokunda Oka Roju' to his credit, 49-year-old Jagapathi Babu has come a long way since his debut in 1989. However, despite having six movie releases this year, the actor has had a rather dull 2011 thus far. With his soon-to-be-released 'Kshetram' hitting the theatres, Jagapathi hopes that the year will atleast end on a good note.

“Initially when I was approached for the film, I wasn’t very confident about it. But, once the shooting began and when I saw the final product, the only word that comes to my mind to describe the film is ‘magical’,” recalls the versatile actor.

Directed by T Venugopal, Kshetram has been inspired by a true story, informs Jagapathi. The movie revolves around completing an unfulfilled task — the installation of a deity’s idol in a temple — that gets carried over from a previous birth to the next.

“The film is about God and about the soul. It is a little on the lines of the film Arundathi, with an addition of the God factor,” he points out.

Apart from Jagapathi Babu, the film also stars Priyamani. Talking about her performance, the actor promptly says, “Priyamani has obviously excelled in her craft. But, I would also say that the film is a complete product and everyone has performed exceptionally well -- be it any role.”

Explaining further about his time during the shoot of the film, the four-time Nandi awardee shares, “The experience has been phenomenal. I watched the film and felt like it was flawlessly made. The film will surely have a great impact on the audience.”

On a concluding note, he adds, “Every film is a director’s product and I am a director’s actor. If I have done well in this film, it is primarily because of the director.”

'Kshetram' will hit the screens on December 29.
