Four, including two children, fall victim to fire accident in multi-storeyed apartment in Chennai

A fire that broke out in an apartment in Chennai early on Monday morning led to the loss of four lives, including two children-aged around 10 and 3. All the four members died due to asphyxiation, sources said.

The incident happened around 4.30 a.m. when fire broke out in the parking lot on the ground floor of the four-storeyed building due to a suspected electrical fault, according to sources. (EPS | P Jawahar)

This led to around 20 vehicles reportedly getting gutted, which led to the fire to spread to the first floor of the building where two families resided. (EPS | P Jawahar)

Although five fire tenders rushed to the spot to contain the fire, almost nine people had inhaled smoke by then and were rushed to Kilpauk Medical College, where four died. (EPS | P Jawahar)
