HYDERABAD: Neredmet police on Monday registered a case against the makers and actress of controversial short film ‘Seetha - I’M not a virgin’, for alleged acts of insulting religious feelings of a community.

Based on a complaint by an advocate, the short film  director Kaushik Babu, producer Neerja Naidu and actress Deepti Sunaina have been booked by the Cyberabad police.

On March 9, a complaint was lodged by advocate and BJP legal cell convener V Prasanna alleging that the filmmakers and made deliberate attempts to hurt the religious sentiments of a particular community by naming a movie with a tag line of ‘I’m not a virgin’ connecting the name with Goddess Seetha.

The complainant had asked the director and producer to change the tag-line used for the short film, before its release on YouTube.

Meanwhile, the movie was uploaded in the internet on March 12, ahead of its scheduled release on March 14. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 295A of IPC and investigation is underway.
