Murder accused nabbed after 24 years

Nearly 24 years after he allegedly committed a murder in SR Nagar police limits, investigators arrested accused, Kurava Krishna, in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh and shifted him to the city on Thursday.

HYDERABAD: Nearly 24 years after he allegedly committed a murder in SR Nagar police limits, investigators arrested accused, Kurava Krishna, in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh and shifted him to the city on Thursday.The 49-year-old Krishna is accused of killing Eruppu Laxmaiah, 35, who lived in Borabanda, in 1993. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), West Zone, A Venkateswar Rao said that Krishna, along with two others, murdered Laxmaiah in Borabanda in 1993 and had been absconding since. On May 28, 1993, police arrested Vijay Kumar and M Lingaiah in connection with the crime. 


According to police, Laxmaiah, Vijay and Krishna were friends who fell out after Laxmaiah started collecting money to represent the other two in a land dispute. Krishna, Vijay and LIngaiah followed Laxmaiah and stabbed him to death on January 12, 1993, police said. Krishna will be brought before the court.
