New Delhi: The Uttarakhand Intelligence Bureau confirmed that Acharya Balkrishna, the right hand man of yoga guru Baba Ramdev may have violated the Arms Act. The Prime Minister's office has ordered a probe in the case.

Balkrishna is a citizen of Nepal, but he claimed he was born in Hardiwar. His passport number A S 245797 from the Bareilly passport office needs to be investigated under the Passport Act, says the report to the State Police Chief.

"I was born in India, my parents are from Nepal. Many Nepalese people are born in India. The Indian constitution gives us rights to be citizen of this country. I am Indian according to the Constitution of India. I was born in Haridwar, I was educated in India. I have been working in India," said Balkrishna.

The report raises other troubling questions as to why does the acharya need fire arms. Balkrishna has violated the arms act. He applied and got two licences, both fraudulently from the Haridwar administration. Balkrishna owns a pistol and a rifle because of the licences number 125/4 and 127/04, says the report. The question is why are these issues being taken seriously by the centre only after the baba dared the Congress.

Leader of the Opposition Harak Singh Rawat said, "I raised the issue several times but I am a small fry as compared to the charisma of Baba Ramdev."

The man at the forefront of the black money campaigns, Baba Ramdev, himself is being accused of stamp duty evasion. Ramdev owes the exchequer Rs 58 lakh, says the Haridwar SDM, in not one or two, but a total of 16 orders. In fact he had ordered attachment proceedings in August last year.

Ramdev has also been accused of grabbing fertile farmland. Local residents including farmers launched a signature campaign against Baba Ramdev, and the Haridwar DM report clearly says no land has been allotted to the baba, a defence that Ramdev had been citing.
