LUCKNOW: The bodies of a young woman and her two daughters, who were missing for the past four months, were found in a pond in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police said.

The deceased were identified as Rita (24), Garima (7) and an infant whose name was not immediately known.

The deceased woman's husband Harish, who works in Raipur in Chhattisgarh, had called up the family in Basti district to ask about his wife and children. It was only after his call that it was discovered that the trio was missing.

Police officials probing the incident said the husband has been called for interrogation, while the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Neighbours told police that the couple had marital issues.
