Missing Naval Officer's Body Found

NEW DELHI:The Navy has called off its search operation following the recovery of the body of Lt Abhinay Nagori from the fuselage of the Dornier aircraft, which had crashed into sea 25 miles off Goa. And Lt Nagori’s body was recovered on Friday morning following which it was taken to Goa. The 24-year-old Lieutenant Nagori had joined the Navy in July 2012 and was undergoing pilot training.

Navy divers have also recovered aircraft’s Flight Data Recorder, which will be sent to its original equipment manufacturer for detailed examination. The Naval headquarters has already initiated a Board of Inquiry(BoI) to establish the cause of accident.

Earlier on Thursday night, the body of Lt Kiran Shekhawat, 26, was found inside the fuselage of the crashed aircraft. She is the first woman Naval officer in the country to die on the line of duty. Lieutenant Shikhawat who had joined the Navy in 2010 was training to be an Observer -- an officer in charge of all sensors on board of a surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.
