CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government would soon implement the Clinical Establishment Act to check overbilling by private hospitals in the state, Health Minister Anil Vij said in a statement released here today.

"In the name of treatment, many private hospitals in the state are overcharging patients due to which the common man has to undergo mental as well as physical agony. The Clinical Establishment Act would play an important role in checking this," Vij said, according to the release.

With the implementation of the Act, private hospitals would be mandated to put on display the costs involved in different procedures offered by them, he added.

Asked about the issue of National Health Workers going on a strike across the state, Vij said of the three demands raised by the employees of NHM, two had been met.

"Their wages have been increased by three per cent and their service rules have been framed. Their third demand regarding regularisation relates to the Central Government," he added.
