Nandagad police arrest three for poaching deer, seize weapons and deer carcass

BELAGAVI: Nandagad police of Belgaum district on Friday intercepted and arrested three accused connected to the poaching of a deer at Bidi village near here. Police also seized the carcass  and weapons from the accused.

According to police sources, the accused shot the deer in a private land within Golihalli Forest Range of Khanapur taluk in Belgaum district. They were carrying the dead deer in their vehicle on Alnawar- Bidi Road when police were alerted.

The accused have been identified as Parveez Samsheer (38), Shaikh Navaz Samsheer (38) and Mehaboob Kittur (31), all residents of Bidi village. Another accused identified as Amjad Hussian of Shirshi is absconding.

Acting swiftly, police intercepted the vehicle near Kuber Dhaba at the entrance of Bidi. While the three accused were arrested, Hussian managed to escape.

Police have seized a single barrel rifle, a double barrel rifle, 2 sharp weapons and the scorpio jeep in which they were travelling. A case has been registered by Nandagad police.
